Breakdown Assistance scenario
Mark is a car mechanic working for a major vehicle breakdown company, which uses the PINPOSTM TeamPad (PINPOS TeamPad) solution to accept Chip and PIN payment on the road side or door step. He is based in Somerset.
| 6:55am | Mark's shift starts at 7am, at 6:55am he switches on his PINPOS TeamPad. |
|---|---|
| 7:05am | The PINPOS TeamPad bleeps to indicate Mark's first call-out of the day. Mark uses the PINPOS TeamPad to check his email, via GPRS, to view details of the call - a member's car is failing to start. Mark has only recently moved to the area and he isn't sure how to get to the address; he uses the PINPOS TeamPad to access a route planner. |
| 7:20am | Mark arrives at the call-out. The car won't start. Mark tries to jump start the car but the battery is dead and needs replacing. He checks his van stock and fortunately he has a compatible battery. He checks the cost of the battery on the PINPOS TeamPad and confirms that the customer wishes to pay for a new battery. Mark installs the new battery. |
| 7:25am | Using the POS system on the PINPOS TeamPad Mark selects the relevant battery, and hands the device to the customer enabling her to insert her credit card and enter her PIN number. The stock system at the local depot is automatically updated via GPRS. |
| 7:27am | Mark emails his manager, using the PINPOS TeamPad, to confirm that this job is complete and that he is ready to attend to the next call-out. |
