Restaurant scenario

Rachel is the Manager of a busy chain of restaurants. She has recently implemented the PINPOSTM (PINPOS) solution with compact Bluetooth-enabled printers placed stragetically around the restaurants (saving leg work and time). Rachel has invited six of her friends to a meal in her Soho restaurant on a hetic Friday evening. Rachel is particularly pleased with reduction in card fraud since implementing the PINPOS solution; the customer's credit/debit card never leaves the customer's sight.

8:00pm Rachel arrives at the restaurant ready to show her friends the new mobile solution in action. Her friends arrive and are seated at table 8.
8:05pm The waiter, Paul, comes to their table with the menus and takes their drinks order, recording their drinks order on the compact lightweight PINPOS using the colour touch screen. The drinks order is automatically sent to the bar's computer via Wi-Fi.
8:15pm Paul is still at Rachel's table, as he is being quizzed on the menu. A waitress arrives with the required drinks; she had checked the bar's computer which stated that there was an drinks order outstanding for table 8.
8:20pm Paul takes the food order at the table, recording the choices and special requirements on the PINPOS; this information is automatically sent to the kitchen's computer via Wi-Fi, which sounds an alarm to indicate that a new order has arrived. The chef starts to prepare the new order.
8:50pm Paul and colleague serve Rachel's table with the freshly prepared food. The meal is enjoyed by all.
9:50pm Rachel and friends decide to skip dessert and coffee and Paul is asked for the bill. At the table Paul uses the PINPOS touch screen to display the bill for table 8. Rachel has primed her friends to pay by as many different methods as possible - just to test her staff! Rachel requests that the bill is divided into six. Paul quickly divides the bill by six (to calculate the cost per person) using the PINPOS. Rachel and her friends wish to pay for the meal using the following methods:
  • Chip and PIN card
  • Chip and Swipe card
  • Magnetic Swipe card
  • Cash (GB Pounds)
  • Cash (Euro)
  • Cash and Chip and PIN card
Rachel also requests a separate receipt per person.
9:54pm At the table for the Chip and PIN payments, Paul hands the PINPOS to the customer, enabling the customer to insert their card and enter their PIN. Using the PINPOS Paul accepts payment by magnetic swipe card, chip and swipe card and cash in both GB Pounds and Euros. Upon completion of payment each receipt is printed on the nearest printer via Bluetooth. The accounts system on the main bar computer is automatically updated with the payments just received, via Wi-Fi.

The customer's credit/debit card does not leave the customer's sight.
